The Investigations Unit is comprised of one sergeant to supervise the unit, five investigators and one Community Service Officer/Crime Scene Specialist; one additional investigator is assigned to the Bi-County Narcotics Enforcement Team. The Investigations Unit conducts follow-up investigations of felony crimes and other criminal events, which require more investigative effort or specialized experience. Qualified patrol personnel fill assignments to the unit on a two year or five year term; at the completion of their assignment, officers return to patrol, which provides valuable experience in our patrol force. These officers are among the best trained and experienced in their field. The unit is liaison to allied agencies at the local, state and federal levels. The unit continues to be a resource for local merchants and business associations, providing input and training whenever it is requested.
The Investigations Unit handles forgery and counterfeiting investigations. As of 2002, the Investigations Unit began teaming with Sutter County District Attorney’s Office check fraud program. This program was introduced to assist the business community in recovering monies from non-sufficient funds and/or closed account checks. Click here for program information - CHECK FRAUD.
