The core goal of the Crime Prevention Unit is helping you not to become a victim. Community outreach projects are also very important. Neighborhood Watch and safety presentations are two ways we “reach out” to the community we serve.
Neighborhood Watch programs are proven to be an effective means of keeping a community safe by providing residents the tools to be the extra eyes and ears of law enforcement. Citizens are empowered to take charge of their own neighborhoods to help our city continue to be a safe environment.
The Crime Prevention Unit also facilitates the agency’s Citizen Academy. In this setting, citizens of the community learn about the different units and job functions of their police agency. The program consists of one weekly meeting for twelve weeks. Police employees present all of the subject matter in this program. The Academy is offered once in the Spring and once in the Fall. If you would like to apply electronically, click here.
